Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One Chief Executive, said that the Bahrain Grand Prix kicks off on Friday as planned and with all teams participating, according to Information Affairs Authority, (IAA) statement.
“I have no knowledge of any teams planning to withdraw from the race and we are all looking forward to racing in Bahrain,” he added.
The F1 chief made the statement after inaccurate media reports stated that the Force India team was pulling out of the race following an incident that happened off track Wednesday evening. Two staff members were traveling near Manama in an unmarked rental car when a Molotov cocktail was thrown by a rioter skirmishing with police forces. Neither the car or its occupants were hit and traffic moved on within minutes. Representatives from the Bahrain International Circuit met with the team and released a statement earlier today.
The Bahrain Grand Prix is being held April 20-22.
