His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on Tuesday said that hosting regular and successive functions in the Kingdom was a living proof that it the Kingdom had emerged stronger than before, thanks to the determination of the government and resolve of the people to overcome the obstacles set up by some for the aim of impeding the development march.
HRH Premier also noted that the kingdom’s hosting of specialised exhibitions and conferences confirms its long-standing position as an “oasis of security and stability” that will not be affected by any attempts to distort its image or undermine its landmark achievements, expressing thanks and appreciation to the private sector for supporting the government’s efforts to consolidate Bahrain as a hub of specialised exhibitions.
This came as HRH Premier patronised here today the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the Gulf International Exhibition for Construction, Interiors and Furniture (gulfBID), organized by Al Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions (HCE).
HRH Premier cut the ribbons and declared the opening of the event. Then, he toured its facilities and was informed on the creations displayed by the 140 local and world exhibitors.
On the occasion, HRH Premier asserted that the government is determined to continue spurring the trade momentum despite the challenges, pledging that the kingdom’s steady growth will continue and that the government will spare no effort to create new mechanisms to bring about even more economic progress and success stories, which will benefit other sectors, such as the construction sector.
He also pointed out that the construction, interiors and furniture is a promising sector in the kingdom, given its position as a distinguished centre for the exhibitions and conferences industry, affirming that Bahrain’s capability to attract exhibitions has not been affected by the latest incidents.
“The kingdom’s share of international exhibitions and economic and sport functions has not been affected, which testifies to the global trust in its ability to ensure the success of those events,” HRH Premier said, adding that the government is keen to support the construction sector in order to enable it to regain its vitality and role as a pillar of the national economy.
HRH Premier also pointed out that the steady growth of the exhibitions and conferences industry reflects the solidity of the kingdom’s economy and ability to withstand challenges thanks to its people’s outstanding resolve to carry on the work and production processes, calling for the need to develop such a sector even further in order to attract added value functions.
In this regard, he asserted that the government has set up an ambitious programme to increase its spending on infrastructure, basic services and housing in order to meet the citizens’ expectations and create a positive atmosphere for the exhibitions and conferences industry to grow and flourish.
Board Chairman of HCE Anwar Abdulrahman extended his sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Premier for patronizing the event, which, he said, reflects the government’s direct support for the exhibitions industry.
