His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa delegated Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to attend a ceremony hosted by the British Embassy marking British Queen Elizabeth II’s anniversary and the 60th anniversary “Diamond Jubilee” of her enthronement.
British Ambassador Iain Lindsay, senior officials, diplomats and corps attend the event.
Shaikh Nasser extended congratulations to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II marking both occasions.
He hailed strong relations bonding Bahrain and the UK in light of directives of HM King Hamad and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, yielding achievements in all fields.
He described decades-long relations as a model for ties bonding friends, reaffirming Bahrain’s keenness to promote relations and bolster cooperation in all fields.
“Britain celebrates Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday amid frantic preparations to host the Olympics-the biggest global sporting event”, Shaikh Nasser said, stressing Bahrain’s keenness to take part in the event and organize sport, youth and social functions, on the sidelines of the London Olympics, aiming to foster Olympic principles and values and promote friendship and respect between nations.
Lindsay extended deep thanks to HM the King for patronizing the ceremony, appreciating Shaikh Nasser’s presence.
He lauded multifaceted relations, stressing steadily-growing cooperation.
He described 2012 as a thrilling year, as Britain celebrates Her Majesty’s birthday and Diamond Jubilee amid preparations to host the London Olympics and the London Paralympic Games for disabled athletes and wheelchair sportsmen and sportswomen.
“The Embassy is working in tandem with Bahrain Olympic Committee to streamline procedures for Bahrain’s sport delegation”, he said.
