His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa arrived in the Thai capital Bangkok today to take part in the 21st World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEF), which will be hosted by Thailand from May 30 to June 1 in the presence of leaders of ASEAN countries, senior businessmen and representatives of major organisations and companies from across the world.
HRH the Prime Minister was received on arrival at Bangkok private airport by senior Thai officials and Bahraini Ambassador to Thailand Adel Sater.
HRH the Premier thanked, in a statement, his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra for the invitation to take part in the forum which, he said, will be held at a crucial time due to international changes and economic challenges that require concerted efforts to enhance development and boost people’s welfare.
He hailed Thailand’s efforts to host the key economic forum which will bring together political leaders and decision-makers as well as prominent international economic figures.
He said inviting Bahrain to participate in the forum epitomizes the deep and strong Bahraini-Thai relations and both countries’ keenness to activate joint partnership.
“Bahrain’s participation in this international gathering emanates from the kingdom’s keenness to back all efforts aimed at confronting economic and financial challenges that may have a negative impact on the development plans,” he affirmed.
He also underlined the importance of the forum in spotlighting Bahrain’s economic model which is characterised by high flexibility and an attractive investment climate.
HRH the Prime Minister lauded the kingdom’s respectable international status and good reputation as a financial and commercial hub.
He affirmed that bolstering relations with ASEAN countries is of enormous importance for the GCC countries, in general, and Bahrain, in particular as it provides the opportunity to take advantage of the substantial economic potentials of those countries as well as their global commercial and economic leverage.
He expressed hope the forum would come up with effective solutions and strategies that would help in achieving set up goals.
HRH the Premier left earlier Bahrain. He was seen off by the Deputy Premiers, senior officials and Thai ambassador to Bahrain.
