His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa received at Al-Safriya Palace-in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Housing Minister Basem bin Yacoub Al-Hamer, who outlined details of the scheme.
The blueprint details the services which would feature in the planned housing projects, cities and residential blocs.
Al-Hamer also briefed HM King Hamad on the multi-phased strategic plan, recently drawn up by the ministry.
HM the King stressed the importance of providing appropriate housing for citizens- describing citizens’ decent living conditions as a top priority. He underscored the necessity for housing projects to go hand in hand with necessary infrastructure, stressed the need to ensure regular adequate maintenance.
He also urged all concerned ministries and government departments to join ranks and work as a team to carry out the multi-phased strategy.
While appreciating the planned housing projects, HM King Hamad stressed the importance of preserving typical Bahrain architecture.
He gave directives Al-Hamer and the ministry staff for their efforts in designing and carrying out housing projects to ensure citizens’ comfort of citizens to have greater access to beaches, stressing the necessity for planned.
The minister of housing said that he briefed HM the King on progress of housing work plan, saying that royal directives would motivate them to achieve the objectives of the strategy.
The Minister said he briefed His Majesty the King on the outcome of the recent visit by the Bahraini delegation to Prince Charles Foundation in London, and the agreements reached on the exchange of experiences in the planning of cities and residential blocs, and the preservation of the traditional architectural character.
He pointed out that after a year of assessment and ongoing studies the ministry decided to plan a clear “road map” towards solving the housing file and speed in providing housing needs for citizens with limited income.
He said that the Ministry since its inception sought to develop and improve the housing services provided to citizens, referring to five-year housing plan and stages of the work in many housing projects.
