President of the Central Informatics and Communications Organisation (CIO) Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Amer has held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Dr. Hamadoun Touré.
Dr. Al Amer discussed with ITU Secretary-General the ways of enhancing ITU-Bahrain cooperation, praising the essential role played by ITU to spread and develop the ICT sector across the world.
He also reiterated the Kingdom’s constant support for the work of the agencies of the United Nations, which aims to achieve a better life for all, praising the progress made by the ITU on nearly 150 years to turn the information technology and communications sector to more sophisticated sector.
Al Amer also took pride in the appointment of the Bahraini engineer Ibrahim Al Haddad as Director of ITU’s regional office.
Al Amer also announced that the Kingdom’s readiness to host the Regional Preparatory Meeting of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in 2013, in line with its commitment to back ITU.
