Cathay Pacific Airways on Tuesday formally received the 29th Boeing 777-300 ER plane at a ceremony held at the Boeing Everett facility in Seattle, USA.
Cathay Pacific team was led by Chief Executive John Slosar and attended by the senior officials of Boeing Company, senior officials from China, media representatives from the Middle East, Far East and the USA.
The new B-777-300ER, a state of the art new plane, has a unique configuration of seats with an addition of 34-seats cabin of Premium Economy Class.
Chief Executive John Slosar said that Cathay would continue to focus and on products and services as well as adding more fuel efficient planes to its fleet.
Slosar said that the global aviation industry has been going through very challenging times by rising costs biting the profits of the carriers across the board.
“The spiralling fuel costs have been major concerns of all airlines including Cathay Pacific, for which the fuel constitutes of 42% of its running costs, making it one of the major challenges for the airline. We like other airlines will continue to focus on more efficient fleet as well as adding more conducive sectors,” he told onboard media CX3337 flight from Seattle to Hong Kong on Tuesday.
The CX3337 touches down at 7.35pm at Hong Kong International Airport local time on Wednesday.
