Director of Lebanon’s National News Agency (NAA) Laure Suleiman stressed the importance of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) conference, describing such meetings as an opportunity to coordinate work among the Arab news agencies.
Such conferences open up new horizons for cooperation among the Arab news agencies which will boost their professionalism and enhance their status on the international media map,” on the sidelines of the conference she told the BNA.
She pointed out that the conference doesn’t discuss the political situation in the Arab countries but spotlights the media one there.
She stressed that despite diversity of mass media from which anyone can get the news-be they electronic, audio, and written or visual- the news-seeker, after all, looks for true, precise and objective news.
“We really suffer, in Lebanon, from diversity of mass media which disclose news which may not be true. We are facing a major challenge which is fuelling our keenness to be always the best,” she added, pointing out the importance of credibility and objectivity in disseminating news.
