The Ministry has or is expected to launch a series of similar electric power plants with capacity of 66 KV and 220 KV within this year alone which is a record time. The cost of the power plant is circa BD7.2 million.
The Minister inspected various sections of the power plant, asserting that the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) always seeks to provide electric energy for investment projects in the Southern Region, and mutually cooperates all economic sectors, including the private sector, in implementing their short- and long-term requirements, and he expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Petroleum Development Company (Tatweer) for its capital contribution to this electric power plant, urging at the same time for more contribution in development projects being implemented, particularly for urban, industrial and development investments.
Dr. Mirza concluded his statement by praising the efforts of the work team who have implemented the project, including EWA departments, Consultants Company responsible for project designing (blueprints) and supervision, international contractors who carried out job implementation, asserting that EWA is proud of all workers who did not spare any effort in serving their beloved country – Bahrain.
The 220 KV electric power plant has been fully financed by the Petroleum Development Company.
