The President of the International Safety Council has praised Bapco’s support for its initiatives in establishing occupational safety culture and fostering the efforts aimed at enhancing safety standards at industrial organizations worldwide.
This came during the recent visit of ISC President Roger Marks to the Bahrain Petroleum Company BAPCO, and his meeting with the Chief Executive, Gordon Smith, in the presence of the Deputy Chief Executive (Refining & Marketing) Ebrahim Talib and Manager Fire, Health & Safety, Ahmed Khalil. During the visit, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in health and safety, and discussed the activities conducted by ISC in the field of on-the-job and off-the-job safety.
Bapco’s officials briefed Marks on the many initiatives that BAPCO has recently undertaken to enhance EHS values. Additionally, they explained the introduction of OEMS and the recent Traffic Safety initiatives which will further make BAPCO a pacesetter in the field of EHS values.
Marks thanked BAPCO for its continued and unlimited support to ISC various initiatives, and said that he was impressed with the EHS Week 2012, organized by BAPCO, especially the Family Day. He further said such safety events aimed at employees and their families of this magnitude were not held anywhere else in the World. He praised BAPCO for investing in such outstanding event which was attended by more than 25,000 visitors. Marks added that the council’s focus in coming years will be on child safety, drug and medication abuse in addition to traffic safety.
He reiterated ISC commitment in collaborating with its international partners to make the world a safer place. At the conclusion of the visit, Bapco officials thanked Marks for his visit to BAPCO and for ISC continued efforts in spreading the safety culture across the globe. BAPCO is one of the founding and Charter member of the Campbell Institute and is represented in the Board of Directors by Ebrahim Talib and Ahmed Khalil.
