President of the Philippine Senate Juan Ponce Enrile underlined the Philippines’ National Assembly’s support to the royal initiative to resume the national dialogue as well as the reform project and democratic march undergone by Bahrain.
This came at a meeting between a Bahraini parliamentary delegation and the Philippine Senate President, in the Presence of the Bahraini Ambassador to the Philippines, on the sidelines of the delegation’s participation in the 5th Conference of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians against Corruption, which is hosted by Manila from January 30 to February 2.
The Philippine Senate President pointed out the need to boost bilateral economic and parliamentary cooperation by exchanging visits and promoting the role of friendship committees.
He stressed the need to support Bahrain’s efforts to boost its security and stability, pointing out that the Philippines’ parliament is keen to maintain cooperation with the Gulf countries’ legislative councils to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation and create a favourable climate for coordination regarding regional and international issues.
First Deputy Speaker of the Representatives Council MP Abdullah bin Khalaf Al Dousari, the delegation’s Head, hailed a visit by a Philippine parliamentary delegation to Bahrain, voicing appreciation of the Representative Council Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani of distinguished relations between both countries.
