Thousands of Bahrainis rallied to mark the second anniversary of the National Unity Assembly (NUA).
NUA chairman Shaikh Abdullatif Al-Mahmoud addressed the massive gathering, slamming parties which seek to exploit loopholes and seek the assistance of foreign sides.
He thanked loyal citizens who took part in the 1st and 2nd Al-Fateh gatherings, paying tribute to individuals and associations for their patriotic stances.
He urged dialogue, being the only way to emerge from the crisis, rejecting any compromise on citizens’ aspirations to promote reforms and bolster the democratic march.
“We are resolved to achieve security for all citizens and residents, enforce the rule of the law, promote judicial independence and implement courts”, he said, rejecting any amnesty for criminals who compromise national interests and endanger people’ lives.
Shaikh Abdullatif stressed the importance of promoting the role of the legislative authority to undertake its role in passing laws, approving the state budget and monitoring the work of the government.
He underlined the crucial role of the legislative authority in holding the government accountable for its programmes, combating corruption, preventing any squandering of public money, rooting out nepotism and protecting state properties.
Shaikh Al-Mahmoud said that the NUA would never bow to terror, violence and blackmailing which are being escalated these days, stressing commitment to the vital interests of all social parties.
He stressed the vital need to protect the security of Bahrain as well as the whole region from any foreign designs, pointing out the importance of the GCC union.
Al-Mahmoud voiced NUA demands, citing particularly pay rises for employees, retirees and private sector workers, urging protection for citizens who are suffering because of saboteurs who block roads.
He stressed the importance of revitalizing the economy and addressing the stagnating trade sector which resulted in the closure of many small and medium businesses owned by Bahrainis.
He pointed out the necessity to crackdown on acts violence, counter terrorism by remedying to legal loopholes and enforcing the laws strictly, calling on the authorities not to bow to pressure.
Shaikh Al-Mahmoud underscored the need to protect the security forces that are braving challenges and confronting violence and terror acts daily.
He called on the authorities to continue unmasking terror plots and tracking down their sources of finances, perpetrators and masterminds, stressing the need to give young talents the opportunity to hold leading positions.
National Evangelical Church chairman Reverend Hani Aziz also addressed the massive gathering stressing the need for all parties to put Bahrain above all other considerations.
He addressed a message of peace from Bahrain to the whole world, stressing the lofty spirit of tolerance and existence for the Kingdom to be always first and foremost.
