Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and with a generous support from the Wife of HM the King, the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, and Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Developing Agricultural Sector, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Ninth Bahrain International Gardens Show (BIGS) opens on Wednesday.
The Show will continue till the second of next March at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC), where the Show this year has an important message to encourage investment in the agricultural sector aiming at shedding light on the importance of increasing investment in that sector, as well as briefing on the economic outcomes, and the increase of the profits.
The Show also aims at achieving the economic growth for the agricultural sector, so to increase its contribution in the GDP, reducing the food gap, and achieving relative food security in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The organizing committee of the Show called on the kind public to attend the Show, and enjoy watching the pioneering national, regional and international experiences in the field of agriculture, horticulture, establishing and decorating gardens.
This year, the Show is set up on an area of 7050 square meters with more than 120 exhibitors from Bahrain, Japan, China, Australia, France, and Slovakia, as well as a group of countries participating in the wing of United Nations Industrial Development Organization “UNIDO” representing Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Tunisia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Italy, and China.
Hall No. 1 in the Show will be for all companies and businesses operating in any field related to gardening including plants, tools, machinery, supplies and services like flowers shops, nurseries, shops selling tools, agricultural machinery, garden furniture, lighting, seeds, and fertilizers.
Hall No. 2 will be for gardens including the latest innovations in the area of gardens designing and landscaping, stressing that it will be a good opportunity for participants from official and private institutions to contribute in developing the agricultural sector, support the profession of designing and establishing gardens, and increase public awareness, and agricultural culture to the public through their shows.
It is worth mentioning that (BIGS) is an opportunity to promote globally and inform locally with the objectives and outputs of the National Initiative for Developing Agricultural Sector, which was launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, in March 2010.
The initiative also comes within the interests of Her Royal Highness to integrate national efforts and coordinate among themselves for the Advancement of the sustainable agricultural development march with all its various economic, social and environmental areas, and in line with the economic Vision 2030.
(BIGS), which is considered one of the most important shows set up in Bahrain, highlights unique and successful experiences, which reflect the benefit of local and foreign participations in the fields of agriculture, landscaping, and providing concern to green spaces.
