The High Criminal Court issued a verdict for 20 suspects, including a Health Ministry employee.
It sentenced seven convicts to ten years in Jail and acquitted 13, on charges of attempted murder of security officers in Sitra and setting ablaze an Interior Ministry’s vehicle, Chief Prosecutor Mehanna Al-Shaiji said.
The convicts were accused of premeditated attempted murder of police officers deployed in Sitra after hurling Molotov Cocktails at them. Two policemen were injured in the incident, which occurred last February, an Interior Ministry’s vehicle was burnt and other ones had their exterior bodies damaged.
The suspects were tracked down and arrested after carrying out their terror act.
The High Criminal Court proclaimed the sentence after processing the case in ten hearings, in the presence of all the suspects, who were provided with all legal guarantees, and their lawyers.
