Al Baraka Islamic Bank won the Best Islamic Bank in Bahrain for 2012 Award from the Euromoney magazine, the world’s leading financial and banking magazine as a part of its annual prizes for Islamic Finance which had announced it in the magazine issue for the current month February 2013.
The Award was received by Mohamed Isa Al Mutaweh Member of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Al Baraka Islamic Bank in the official ceremony, which was held in London on in the presence of a group of banking leaders and officials from various countries in the region and beyond.
It is noteworthy that the “Euromoney” Islamic Finance Awards are considered the most important and highest awards in the banking sector where they have large credibility and recognition, and this year, they attracted in their twenty-third session more than 600 nominations from banking institutions from various countries of the world. The jury of the Journal studied them on the basis of a closer reading of the key financial performance indicators along with a qualitative assessment of the overall achievements and leading initiatives of these banks during the year based on the opinions of experts and specialists in the banking industry.
In selection of Al Baraka Islamic Bank for this prestigious award, the Euromoney Magazine noted in particular the performance of the Bank and efficiency made in dealing with the unstable operating conditions and variables witnessed in 2012 and its success to accommodate them, thanks to a strategy of innovation and expansion it follows to achieve the good operating results despite the extraordinary challenges on the regional and international arenas.
