The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa affirmed Bahrain’s keenness on supporting the brotherly Syrian people to overcome the hardships they are facing.
He hailed the crucial role of Jordan in accommodating the Syrian refugees, calling on the international community to help alleviate the Syrians’ suffering and ease the economic toll on Jordan.
Accompanied by Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Immigrants’ Affairs Nasser Joudah, Shaikh Khalid paid an inspection visit to Zaatari Camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan.
He first visited to the office of the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and was updated by Zaatari camp Coordinator Klein Tobias on services and facilities provided for Syrian refugees.
He then visited Bahrain Educational Complex, which was set up by the Royal Charity Organisation in cooperation with Jordanian authorities following directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
Shaikh Khalid commended the standard of the educational services provided for Syrian students, adding that Bahrain’s contribution to the charity works stems from its keenness on cooperating with Jordan to alleviate Syrians’ tragic ordeal.
He paid tribute to the administrative and teaching staff for ensuring the noble services, wishing students success.
The minister toured the site of the makeshift Bahrain Residential Complex, which was set up by the Kingdom to shelter the stranded Syrian refugees amid harsh weather.
