Bahrain is about to reap the fruits of the human rights achievements through the continuation of the renovation policy of the legislative legal system and spreading the culture of human rights in the community, according, to Minister of Human Rights Affairs.
Minister of Human Rights Affairs, Dr. Salah Bin Ali Abdul Rahman chaired the 5th meeting of the Higher Coordinating Committee for Human Rights held in the meeting hall at Bahrain Financial Harbour.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Salah welcomed the members of the Committee, valuing their great national efforts at their various locations, to consolidate the true image of the reality of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Dr. Salah stressed that the committee has high national missions which reflect the acceleration of the pace of coordinating work in the area of achieving all the various affairs and human rights files, commending the national cadres and governmental efficiencies in the committee.
The minister said that the ministry, the Coordinating Committee, the National Foundation for Human Rights, and the parliamentary and human rights committees and other official bodies concerned with human rights work in the same trench to advocate for the reinforcement of human rights enshrined in the Constitution.
The minister highlighted the results of the work of the Subcommittee on the recommendations of Human Rights Council (UPR), and what has been achieved by the relevant authorities concerning them.
Dr. Salah also lauded the exerted efforts of these authorities in order to meet the state obligations for the Council, adding that most of the recommendations have been implemented or are being implemented on the ground, which reflects the official concern on the objective and sincere implementation of the recommendations.
“A memorandum will be submitted to the Cabinet to brief it on the follow-up developments for Geneva recommendations, and carry out the directives concerning them,” Dr. Salah, said.
On the other hand, the minister gave directions for the need to accelerate designing the plan, including developing an executive programme, a detailed time frame, as well as the launch of a campaign to explain the general objectives and the role of relevant bodies in applying them, so as to ensure its success. He also stressed that the aim of the plan is to spread the culture of human rights and the establishment of their principles in public and private institutions and also in the Bahraini society.
