Bahrain’s delegation, headed by Human Rights Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, taking part in the 23rd high-profile session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, met Thai Permanent representative and Ambassador to Geneva Thani Thongphakdi.
Dr. Salah hailed solid relations and cooperation between Bahrain and Thailand and their progress in various fields.
He also discussed with the Thai ambassador ways of bolstering bilateral cooperation in the human rights field and briefed him about the National Consensus Dialogue and keen desire of most of the participants to press ahead with the democratic reforms.
The Human Rights Minister stressed that continuous street violence impedes the dialogue and the government’s efforts to tackle the pitfalls of the regrettable incidents witnessed by Bahrain in the past years.
He said that development of the criminal and terrorist method of the extremist group and their resort to arson, blocking roads and targeting policemen and schools with locally-made weapons is the result of the continuous Iranian-led propaganda inciting violence.
The Thai ambassador thanked the Human Rights Minister for the important information on human rights in Bahrain, stressing his country’s support to the National Dialogue and to Bahrain.
