The KIMS Group has so far invested $30 million in three medical facilities and plans to open two more facilities, thanks to the Kingdom’s attractive investment climate, according to a top official at the Group.
“We are opening Medex Medical Centre on Thursday, the third facility in Bahrain which shows the commitment of the KIMS Group and the Ministry of Health, Economic Development Board’s close follow up with the upcoming projects in vital sector like health,” Ahmed Jawahery President, President of KIMS Group told The24X7News, on the sidelines of the opening of the Press conference on Tuesday.
Apart from the investments point of view, he added, KIMS Group has created around 550 new job opportunities in the health and medical sector.
Talking about the expansion and the KIMS Group’s strategy for Bahrain he said there would be more investments in medical and healthcare projects to raise the bar of existing facilities to new height.
“We want to see Bahrain as a destination of choice for Health Tourism across the Gulf and to realise this objective KIMS Group will remain committed to develop health and medical facilities,” Jawahery added.
During the Press conference KIMS Group’s top management announced expansion of its operations in Bahrain by acquiring Medex Medical Centre, a dynamic healthcare facility in the Riffa area.
The facility, now renamed as RBH Medex, will have access to Royal Bahrain Hospital’s specialty doctors and infrastructure, increasing its patient capacity to 150 patients a day in comparison to a mere 17 patients a day earlier.
RBH Medex will be a 24/7 medical centre with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, multi-specialty clinics and an extension of RBH’s Outpatient Department Services. A large panel of doctors including General Practitioners, Family Doctors and other major disciplines along with a 24 hour pharmacy and ambulance service will be some of the key features of the medical centre.
“We are delighted that the KIMS Group is rapidly expanding its operations here in Bahrain. Bahrain has a robust healthcare system providing expert medical care through Health Centers across the country with assistance the Ministry of Health,” Ministry of Health Undersecretary, Dr Aisha Mubarak, said.
“However, with a rapidly increasing population of locals and expatriates, it is always helpful to have support from private medical institutions to meet our growing medical demands. We would like to take this opportunity to ensure our support to KIMS in all of its efforts.”
She also stressed on the importance of partnerships with private sector in the development and support of medical facilities.
“I call upon companies and establishments in the community who are interested in health issue to adopt the same approach due to its positive impact on Ministry of Health beneficiaries both nationals and residents,” she added.
“We are extremely excited with our acquisition of Medex, a milestone in our vision to extend KIMS’ medical expertise through the length and breadth of the country,” Dr Mohammad Sahadulla, KIMS Group Chairman, said.
“We take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Health, Bahrain, for their constant support in our endeavours, as well as His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for creating a platform for excellent healthcare institutes to establish themselves in Bahrain,” he added.
