The Arab Ministers Council for Environment urged the Arab countries to contribute towards building Palestinian capabilities and implementing projects to protect environment in the occupied territories.
This comes as Head of the Supreme Council for Environment, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Bin Dinah, Deputy CEO of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) chaired Bahrain’s delegation to the meeting of the 25th session of the Arab Ministers Council for Environment.
The Council also called Arab, regional and international organizations to continue coordination and cooperation with Republic of Sudan to address the environmental deterioration particularly in Darfur and north Sudan.
The Council called for the completion of studies on the impact of Israel’s Dimona reactor and the Iranian Bushar’s reactor on the Arab region and its environment.
The Council decided to hold a meeting for the parties involved in the implementation of the Arab Action Plan in dealing with climate change issues. It also welcomed the existing cooperation between the League of Arab States and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
The Arab Ministers Council for Environment concluded its works at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
Meanwhile, Kingdom of Bahrain had initiated withdrawing from nominating itself to chair the Executive Bureau for two years 2014, 2015 for its sister, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), of which was received from the other participating countries in the meeting with praise, where they expressed their desire for nominating (KSA).
Kingdom of Bahrain’s initiative for nominating KSA was out of the distinctive brotherly relations and joint cooperation in all fields between the two countries.
Meanwhile, at the end of the meeting, the Council of Arab Ministers called the personnel responsible for environment affairs to urge the Arab states and regional and international organizations to inform about the constructive sabotage carried out by Israel and the other occupational powers in the Arab occupied territories in the regional and international conferences.
The Council also requested from the Arab countries to speed up signing and ratifying the basic system of the Arab Union for Natural Reserves in implementation of the decision of the Arab Foreign Ministers in the League of Arab States in its 137th session.
