MANAMA: The debut performance of Pakistan’s one of the top classical and mystical singers Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been postponed.
Savio Samanna, General Manager EPIC Concepts, organisers of Bahrain event, on Friday afternoon confirmed the postponement of the event saying that Fateh Ali Khan had met with an accident and could not get Gulf Air flight from Lahore. However the accident claims could not be verified independently.
The much awaited and first performance by Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in Bahrain was set for Friday January 10th 2014.
“We have been informed that Rahat Fateh Khan had internal bleeding after the accident and due to medical reasons will not be able to fly out of Pakistan for the time being,” the statement added.
EPIC Concepts said it would refund the tickets at the refund counter to be established at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre starting Saturday to Monday between 12pm to 3pm.
Rahat Fateh Ali’s 20-member band which arrived in Bahrain on Thursday and staying at Ramee Grand Hotel in Seef is likely to fly back home soon.
“The band is already in Bahrain we are awaiting to make further arrangements as the developments take place after this unfortunate incident. We apologise to all for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the event just few hours before the event time especially to those who travelled from the neighbouring countries to listen to the great music icon,” the organisers told The24X7News.

A nephew of internationally acclaimed Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the gifted Rahat Fateh Ali Khan gave his first public performance at the age of 11, when both toured the UK in 1985.
The maestro has been giving hit after hit in Bollywood and has also contributed to hit Hollywood soundtracks such as “Dead Man Walking” and Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto”. In 2012, Khan was named the International Artist of the Decade at the Asian Music Awards. Rahat Fateh Ali has performed at Slamdance Film Festival, in addition to world famous venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and Wembley Arena in UK to completely captivated and enchanted crowds.
