MANAMA: The Cabinet discussed and approved the memorandum presented by the Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs on the draft law to approve the accession to the Protocol of 1988 that is related to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), 1974.
Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab, the Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government’s Official Spokesperson, during the post Cabinet meeting briefing at Gudaibia Palace told reporters that the Cabinet decided to refer the draft law to the legislative authority.
The Cabinet discussed and approved the memorandum presented by the Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs on a draft law to approve the accession to the 1988 Protocol related to the International Convention on Load Lines of 1966.
The convention aims to harmonize and unify the scanning system of survey and issuing the required certificates in a manner consistent with SOLAS and MARPOL Conventions. The two conventions specialize in enhancing the safety of ships, people on board, property at sea and the preservation of the maritime environment.
The Cabinet decided to refer the draft law to the legislative authority.
