MANAMA: His Excellency President Emam Ali Rahman of the Republic of Tajikistan asserted the importance to establish Tajikistan-Bahrain Investor Council in the near future.
The President was speaking as he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the organizers of the Bahrain-Tajikistan Business Forum. The Forum was aimed to paving the way for the appropriate conditions for joint work between the two friendly countries.
“Tajikistan moves towards implementing and developing major promising economic programmes within the long-term national strategy, in which the Tajikistani government has attracted more than 100 investment projects totaling of $3 billion to various economic sectors. Those projects mainly focus on the construction of water energy plants, development of infrastructure of tourism, transportation and telecommunication,” he said.
The President highlighted important topics to be discussed with His Majesty the King with the focus on opportunities to develop joint cooperation for the best interests of the two friendly nations. He invited Bahraini businessmen who are interested of joint investment with their counterparts in Tajikistan to visit the country to learn about available opportunities.
About the historical and cultural ties between the two countries, President highlighted that the current relations enable them to establish and expand many joint projects in many sectors such as investment, tourism, infrastructure, transportation, telecommunication and modern technology.
He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain has been considered as an international banking center with huge financial recourses, this enables it to have distinguished presence in the financial system in Tajikistan, through direct trade and investments, soft loans and other financial activities.
He highlighted special projects with priority in Tajikistan such as water energy, light and food industries, minerals extraction, natural resources, oil and gas, cotton and aluminum industries and the establishment of the infrastructure for tourism and telecommunications and transportation and the production and exporting of drinking water.
President Emam Ali Rahman highlighted that legislations in Tajikistan offer more than 40 facilities to investors to provide them the appropriate atmosphere to carry fruitful economic activities.
He highlighted that such facilities also cover oil and gas exploration, as the Kingdom of Bahrain has long experience in this field, cooperation in this direction is with priority for Tajikistani, as well as water energy plants, especially water stations to generate energy and fixing of power transmission lines.
President Emam Ali Rahman highlighted the natural resources of Tajikistan, such as mountain mineral extraction industries, production of construction materials and there are more than 600 metal mines that have been discovered in the country. It has also huge natural resources for construction, in addition to climatic and natural elements for high quality vegetables and fruits productions, as agriculture is one of the most important development and investment aspects in Tajikistan.
After that Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Qasim Qadri, delivered a speech on the investment atmosphere in his country and incentives provided by the Tajikistani government to investors in all fields. His speech was followed by a speech of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Khalid Almoayyed.
A discussion session was held on investment opportunities for Tajikistani companies in Bahrain that was managed by CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in Bahrain, Hassan Jarar; undersecretary of Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Bahrain, Engineer, Nader Khalil Almoayyed Executive Director on Banking Operations at Central Bank of Bahrain, Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa Manager of Business Development at Economic Development Board, Abdulmohsen. Al Gosaibi.
After that, the Tajikistani side, presented a presentation on the investment opportunities in the country and facilities offered in all sectors. At the end of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between Bahraini investors and their Tajikistani counterparts to discuss joint investment and cooperation opportunities in commercial, industrial, investment and food sectors.
