MANAMA: The telecommunication sector in the Kingdom is booming, thanks to the sound policies adopted by the government, according to the Deputy Premier.
“The steady growth of the sector will continue with the implementation of a number of projects aiming to consolidate the infrastructure of the telecommunication sector services, which will reflect positively on various economic sectors and boost the national economy, in general,” Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa told the opening session of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR14).
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa deputised, Shaikh Ali to attend the three days event which attracted the participation of 750 representatives of ICT bodies from over 82 countries.
Shaikh Ali highlighted HRH Premier’s interest in the telecommunication sector, being among the most promising economic sectors that attract added value investments and generate job opportunities for the national workforce.
He conveyed greetings from HRH Premier to the participants in GSR14 and wishes of success for the event in order to consolidate the successes of the telecommunication sector as a vital stimulator of development in all countries all over the world.
He underlined Bahrain’s landmark strides to free the telecommunication sector and pave the way for companies to invest in it, which, he affirmed, has consolidated competition in the market, advanced the sector and contributed to the provision of high-quality services at reasonable prices.
He expressed hope that the forum would come with new visions to upgrade the telecommunication sector and promote the competition values while taking the rights of consumers into account.
