Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain has reported encouraging results of the COVID-19 vaccine trails of phase-3 which started on August 11, 2020.
Dr Waleed Al Manea, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and members of the National Task Force on COVID-19 addressing the Press conference on Wednesday said that the Kingdom was seeking 6000 volunteers to conduct clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine developed by China in cooperation with Abu Dhabi based G42 Healthcare.
In the UAE, the clinical trials of the inactivated Covid-19 vaccine from Sinopharm were being conducted by G42 Healthcare, an artificial intelligence company based in Abu Dhabi.
It may be noted that the vaccine has produced an immune response in earlier trials in China.
The phase-3 vaccine, which is currently being tested on a larger sample, produces antibodies and not a curative or treatment for the COVID-19 infection.
