Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The 17th IISS Manama Dialogue 2021 kicked off on Friday at the Four Seasons Hotel with over 300 high-powered government delegations, and top-notch policy makers in attendance.
This debates and fiery discussions over the next three days will revolves around this year’s theme at the Dialogue is ‘Multilateralism and the Middle East’. While the region’s conflicts and rivalries are well known, the dominant approach to resolving them may be changing. The IISS Manama Dialogue will be pivotal in shaping new policy approaches.
Manama Dialogue is a unique forum for government ministers, as well as members of the expert, opinion-forming and business communities, to debate the Middle East’s most pressing security challenges. The 2021 conference will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay in Bahrain on 19–21 November.
The IISS held annually since 2004, the Dialogue is a central element of the Middle East’s security architecture. The summit provides a vital opportunity for policymakers and thought leaders from across the Middle East, North America, Europe, Africa and Asia to find answers to the region’s most pressing policy issues.
The Dialogue also provides a special opportunity for face-to-face bilateral and multilateral discussions, which regularly shape the outcomes of regional defence and security diplomacy.
