MANAMA: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain’s political stability and an attractive investment climate have made this country as a destination for choice for foreign companies.
Shunli Wang, Vice President of Huawei Middle East, in his first visit has termed the Kingdom’s best regulatory regime as well as the ease to enter the country that is something makes it distinct in the entire Middle East.
Shunli, who is based in the UAE and travels frequently across the region, believes the Kingdom’s immigration and completion of other formalities in less than five minutes is unbelievable and remarkable for this small but vibrant economy in the region.
In his first meeting with Bahrain based media Huawei senior executive answered eloquently to all questions he discussed Huawei’s plans and strategy as well as possibly enhancing co-operation in capacity building by training a local talent.
“Huawei continues to train the local talent pool through various training and human capital development initiatives that be by supporting the local educational institutions or on job training openings,” he said. “The readiness of Bahrain to take up challenge shows this country’s readiness to be frontline player in rapidly evolving ICT landscape.”
Replying to a question about the most dynamic ICT innovation and solutions, he specifically mentioned the AI deployment in oil and gas, cyber security, and digitization of the economy.
“I personally feel that innovation bringing the world closer to the digital population means deployment of robot technology across the broad spectrum of the national economy.
“The dream of digital population is something conceivable and keeping in view technology role in the future, Huawei had set aside $24 billion on Research and Development last year and that is going up to an estimated staggering $27 billion in 2022, showing the importance innovation for Huawei a global leader in technology and ICT solutions,” he said.
“Huawei takes R&D very seriously and that is one of the reasons that Huawei continues to retain its leadership as a company. We will continue to keep R&D as our top priority moving forward.”
