NBB-AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation marks conclusion of 2026 Watheq Programme

Manama: The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) and the AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF) have marked the conclusion of the third edition of the Watheq university preparatory programme, empowered by NBB. The ongoing collaboration reflects the Bank’s continued commitment to national initiatives that prepare students for academic and professional success.

“Investing in youth is a core pillar of NBB’s sustainability and corporate social responsibility strategy. Guided by our belief that building national capabilities begins with providing quality opportunities for learning, development and practical experience, our partnership with MKF is an extension of our dedication to contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s socioeconomic development,” Hisham Abu Alfateh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NBB, said.

“We are delighted by the positive impact of the Watheq programme and the opportunities it offers participants to discover their potential and build the confidence needed to make informed decisions about their future. At NBB, we will continue to stand behind initiatives that open new horizons for Bahraini youth and strengthen their readiness to lead a more prosperous future.”

“We are proud of the enthusiasm the participants demonstrated in enhancing their readiness for future academic and professional pursuits. We would also like to extend our gratitude to NBB and our partners, whose generous support and sponsorship have allowed us to continue delivering impactful initiatives across education, career guidance, and skills development,” Saba Yousif Seyadi, Executive Director of the MKF, said.

The third edition of Watheq concluded with 90 participants aged 16 to 18 completing a comprehensive training curriculum designed to strengthen self-awareness and develop essential life skills. The programme also introduced them to the realities of university life, CV writing, and the transition from school to higher education. In addition, field visits to several universities and workplaces gave participants the opportunity to experience diverse settings and gain a clearer understanding of the future pathways open to them.

NBB and MKF’s continued partnership for the Watheq programme reflects the shared resolve of both organisations to develop quality projects that nurture national talent, foster a culture of continuous learning, and support the Kingdom of Bahrain’s aspirations to build a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.
