MANAMA: Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and Bahrain Arts Society Continue Art Workshops as Part of “Almasyaf” Summer Art Show
The Art Centre of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, in collaboration with the Bahrain Arts Society, continues its series of specialised art workshops as part of the programme held alongside the first edition of the “almasyaf” Summer Art Show, which runs until 5 September 2026.
Through hands-on and interactive sessions, the workshops encourage participants to experiment with new techniques and create works that explore different compositions and forms of visual expression. The programme provides a creative environment for developing ideas, experimenting with materials and broadening participants’ artistic practice.
Earlier workshops featured artist Sayed Hasan Alsari, who introduced participants to innovative and accessible approaches to abstract art, drawing on the fundamental elements of composition, design and colour. Participants experimented with different colour combinations and compositions to create artworks reflecting their individual perspectives.
Artist Ahmed Anan also led an advanced workshop on sculptural making, taking participants through the different stages of creating three-dimensional works, from modelling and mould-making to casting and painting. Using clay alongside a range of other materials and techniques, participants explored ways of transforming their creative ideas into three-dimensional artworks.
Artist Thoraya Amin presented a workshop on 3D Textured Art, encouraging participants to develop creative ideas and explore texture as a means of enhancing visual composition, using simple materials including cardboard, tissue paper and adhesive tape.
On Saturday, 29 August, artist Shaima Haji will present “Rug Tufting”, introducing participants to the fundamentals of tufting and the use of a tufting gun. Participants will then apply these skills to design and create their own rugs, reflecting their individual style and creativity.
The programme will conclude with “The Art of Ebru: Water Marbling”, presented by artist Yousif Alaradi on Saturday, 5 September. The workshop will introduce participants to the traditional art of Ebru, in which colours are applied to the surface of water and manipulated to create patterns and compositions before being transferred onto paper. Participants will explore the fundamentals of the technique while developing their understanding of colour, movement and composition, enriching their artistic practice and broadening the range of learning experiences offered through the educational programme accompanying the “almasyaf” Summer Art Show at the Art Centre.
