The Ministry of Interior affirmed that, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure maritime safety and detect and address violations, the Coast Guard conducted a joint inspection campaign along several coasts in Muharraq Governorate, in cooperation with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate, the Marine Resources Directorate at the Supreme Council for Environment, and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

The campaign aimed to ensure the availability of maritime safety equipment, the proper installation of boat identification plates and side numbers, and the validity of navigation licences and boat ownership documents. It also included verifying the installation and operation of the Automatic Identification System (AIS), identifying unlicensed expatriate workers, and checking compliance with the laws and regulations governing fishing activities.

The Coast Guard reported that a number of violations were detected and that the necessary legal measures were taken in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. It also affirmed that joint inspection campaigns will continue to be carried out to safeguard maritime safety and protect Bahrain’s marine resources.
