Bahrain to showcase its ICT excellence internationally

The eGovernment Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for eGovernance Development for South East Europe (CeGD) to showcase Bahrain’s experience in the field of ICT internationally.

According to the agreement, Bahrain will conduct special training programmes for the public sector employees in Arabian, European and African countries, aiming at benefiting their eGovernment programme at rolling out stage.

In line with the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011 events, which concluded on 18th May 2011, the MoU was signed on behalf of the eGovernment Authority by the CEO Mohammad Ali Al Qaed, and by Blaž Golob, Director Center for eGovernance Development on behalf of the CeGD.

Both parties will set suitable and high quality curricula, taken from a number of advanced countries experiences in the field of eGovernment, in addition to Bahrain’s experience in the same field, to build competencies, train employees, enable experts to extend training in areas of ICT, eGovernment, create joint training projects for the benefit of employees in addition to strengthen the partnerships between the government and private sectors to develop the knowledge-based society.

The agreement scope extends to a period of three years covering a geographical territory that encloses the Kingdom of Bahrain, other GCC countries and Africa, in addition to South East Europe countries.

“The MoU with CeGD will facilitate showcasing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience in the field of eGovernment worldwide,” Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the eGovernment Authority said.

“The MoU that has been signed and assist the other countries to learn from the challenges Bahrain has faced and managed successfully during the implementation of its national eGovernment strategy,” he added.

“This agreement will also facilitate the Kingdom’s effort to bridge the digital gap and develop the knowledge-based society and expedite the transformation to the comprehensive eGovernance through necessary training and development.”

Al Qaed assured the keenness to train the human resource and educate them electronically, considering it as the most feasible investment to attain the comprehensive development for society. “With an eye on the latest technological advancements, the current need is to train the employees in the eGovernement field to employ the modern technology and make ideal use of it to achieve the required outcomes.”
