A UN top official recognized misinformation being fed about the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“Certain information which we received about the developments in Bahrain were untrue”, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem (Navi) Pillay, said. She made her comments during her meeting with Social Development Minister and Acting Health Minister Dr. Fatima bint Mohammed Al-Balooshi.
She also acknowledged that the situation is the Kingdom of Bahrain is by far different, and is thus incomparable to ongoing unrest in other countries in the region. She extended thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for inviting a UNHCR mission to visit Bahrain. She affirmed that such visit is in the framework of the cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UNHCR. Dr. Al-Balooshi updated Navi Pillay on the prevalent situation in Bahrain, stressing that things are back to normal.
“The Government of Bahrain is looking forward to new prolific period, building on the landmark achievements under His Majesty King Hamad’s reform project”, she said.
Dr. Al-Balooshi, also head of the National Childhood Committee, today returned home after attending in Geneva the meeting of the Children’s Rights Committee. The UN panel discussed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s second and third report.
