GCC implements policies to achieve prosperity in all sectors

The Director of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Councils of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs, Aqeel Al-Jassim stressed that Gulf countries have allocated a special concern for the social policies to achieve prosperity for all segments of society and protect them socially, economically and culturally. This is done through the involvement of citizen in the development and planning for it, as well as developing its policy and strategy as it is considered an aim and means for development in the same time.
Al-Jassim highlighted that Kingdom of Bahrain has greatly achieved long strides in the area of social policies in a way to accomplish the goals of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

Al-Jassim said “The Experience of social policies in Kingdom of Bahrain has been characterized with its future vision to build a society based on solidarity, cohesion, partnership and justice in the work based on interacting and integrated partnership between the government sector, civil sector and private sector. This society found its reflection in sectorial social policies concerned with children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, productive families, social security, social responsibility, civil society and childhood.”

Marking the intention of the Executive Bureau to issue a book within a series of social studies titled “Issues of Gulf Social Policies, Concepts, Fields and Problems,” Al-Jassim pointed out that the issuance, through work papers and researches, addresses the concept of social policies in the light of the general community course, and the ministerial sectorial course. He also highlighted the importance of integrating community responsibility in the social policies, and the way to manage social risks, in addition to the social policy to empower the Gulf family, rehabilitate its development role outside the scope of the traditional care, and review the pioneering international experiences in the social policies.

Al-Jassim stressed that the GCC countries should provide the requirements for managing social risks, comes in the forefront, the vision and philosophy to strengthen human capital, and social capital. He also said that the policy makers should have readiness to be critically reviewed for the concept of social policy which currently exists. This also includes the analysis of social inequality on one side, and the gaps between those who own and the others who do not own on the other side.

Al-Jassim also pointed out the need to have a protection umbrella from the clear dangers and mechanisms to manage the social dangers in the GCC states.

Al-Jassim highlighted that GCC countries are convinced with achieving the principle of sustainable development for their people, and this is embodied in their concern with developing the projects and programmes, and implementing them to establish a secure society on a way to ensure confidence and stability for the present and future of citizens, developing plans that ensure facing any danger that might occur.

Al-Jassim said that “The Council of Ministers for Social Affairs is fully aware of the importance of including risk management in developing social policies, and that the council holds scientific and academic activities which shed light on the issue of managing social risks in the social policies, through knowing about the concept of social risks, and how to integrate it in social policies.

Al-Jassim stressed that “Achieving full awareness concerning the management of social risks in social policies contribute to the management of planning and monitoring of social risks in social policies and translate them in work departments at ministries of social affairs.”
