Bahrain City Centre turns five! To celebrate its birthday, the mall is hosting a month of family-fun, raffle draws and competitions and exciting stage shows for kids. From today until 5th October, the Central Galleria will feature all five of the Grand Prize Fiat 500 cars to be won, and an interactive ‘Spin & Win’ wheel giving shoppers the chance to win instant spot prizes.

“Since opening its doors five years ago, Bahrain City Centre has quickly established itself as the nation’s landmark, favoured meeting point for the community and a key driver of the retail and tourism sectors in Bahrain,” George Kostas, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said.

“As a flagship property, we will continue to invest in its evolution through strategic opportunities with the government and retail partners that ensure its leadership position.”

An official cake cutting ceremony took place on Thursday evening to kick off celebrations. Dr. Hassan Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce along with delegates and senior officials from Majid Al Futtaim Properties inaugurated the event and mall visitors were handed special anniversary cupcakes to celebrate with the community.

“Bahrain City Centre has reached another milestone and this could not have been achieved without the support of the government and the wider community, who have been instrumental to our success,” Duaij Khalifa Al Rumaihi, Senior Mall Manager, Bahrain City Centre, said.

“To celebrate this success, Bahrain City Centre is giving back to the community and we look forward to joining in on the festivities with a variety of family-oriented activities and entertainment.”

To put icing on the cake, Bahrain City Centre will give away a total of 185 prizes to lucky winners! Part of its month-long anniversary celebration, a minimum spend of BD33 at any retail shop within Bahrain City Centre will entitle a shopper to enter the raffle draw. One iPhone 5 and five BD50 Gift Cards are to be given away daily and five lucky shoppers will each drive away a brand new Fiat 500 car. What’s more, shoppers will also get a token for the chance to spin the wheel on the ‘Spin & Win’ activity in the Central Galleria, with instant prizes including Gift Cards and retailer gifts.

Bahrain City Centre will also bring children’s favourite cartoon characters, The Smurfs, to life for the first time in Bahrain! As part of its world tour, kids in the Kingdom will be delighted as they get a chance to meet Papa Smurf, Clumsy Smurf and the entire Smurf family live on stage from September 18 to 21. The entertaining shows take place September 18th and 19th at 6pm, 7pm 8pm and 9pm, and on September 20th and 21st at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.

On September 18, the actual day of its anniversary, Bahrain City Centre will host an exclusive party for five year olds. Children who were born in September 2008 will experience the exclusive meet & greet with their favourite cartoon characters and take home special anniversary gift packs. Registration will be from 1st to 10th of September at the mall’s Customer Service Desk and the first 50 kids to register will be invited to the coolest kids’ party in the Kingdom!

The mall is also encouraging community members to share their talents by composing a song that is themed around Bahrain City Centre’s 5th Anniversary. The only requirement is that the song has to have keywords including ‘Bahrain City Centre,’ ‘5 Years Anniversary,’ and ‘Our Centre is You.’ A CD with the composition, which can be in audio or video format, has to be submitted to Bahrain City Centre’s Customer Service desk. The mall will then upload the videos on its YouTube channel and the entry with most views will win a gift card worth BD500. The competition is open from September 1 to 30.
