MANAMA: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The IRONMAN 70.3 Bahrain Marathon kicks off on Thursday 5th December in which around five hundred registered participants to participate in marathon. The details of the event revealed during a pre-event Press conference held at Regency Inter-Continental Hotel.
Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, the Ironman has emerged as one of the key yearly sporting events and attracts global audience and pro men: 6:20 AM local time; and pro women: 6:23 AM local time and it includes swim: 1.9 km (1.2 miles) in the protected waters surrounding Reef Island; bike: 90 km (56.1 miles) single loop, passing iconic landmarks like the World Trade Centre and Bahrain International Circuit; and run: 21.1 km (13.1 miles) four-loop course, starting and finishing at Reef Island, with scenic views of the Financial Harbour.
The defending champions are Vincent Luis (France) and Georgia Taylor-Brown (UK) are looking to retain their titles.
