MANAMA: The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, convened by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), is Asia’s premier defence summit to discuss critical security challenges in the Asia-Pacific. It will take place at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
Secretary Hegseth will make his remarks from 0830 SGT on Saturday 30 May 2026.
The Keynote Address will be delivered by His Excellency Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on Friday 29 May at 20:00 SGT.
The IISS first convened the Shangri-La Dialogue, also known as the Asian Regional Security Summit, in 2002. It is Asia’s premier defence summit, bringing together defence ministers and senior officials, as well as business leaders and security experts from across the Asia-Pacfiic, Europe, North America and beyond, to discuss the region’s pressing security challenges. The 2026 summit will be the 23rd edition of the Dialogue, as it did not take place in 2020 or 2021 owing to the global pandemic.
