MEOS GEO 2027 is set to convene in September 2027

MANAMA: The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the Middle East Oil, Gas and Geosciences Conference and Exhibition (MEOS GEO) from 14-16 September 2027, at Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB). The event will feature participation of leading figures from the energy sector as well as experts, specialists, and academics from across the region and the world.

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, this global event has been organised in the Kingdom of Bahrain by Informa Bahrain since its inception in 1979, in cooperation with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the European Association of Geologists and Engineers (EAGE), and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and in coordination with the Ministry of Oil and Environment. The Ministry’s support for specialised oil, gas, and energy events hosted by the Kingdom enhances their success, solidifying the Kingdom’s position on the map of specialised international conferences and exhibitions while boosting efforts to attract global expertise, competencies, and companies to the Kingdom.

As part of the early preparations for the event, the Executive Committee of MEOS GEO 2027 held its first meeting on 27 August 2026, at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Manama. The meeting was led by Anas A. Alshuaibi of Saudi Aramco, the Conference Chair, and attended by Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Shuhail, Technical Programme Chair, as well as members of the Executive Committee and representatives of the organising bodies. The meeting addressed several strategic, organisational, and technical aspects of the upcoming edition, besides setting work priorities and enhancing coordination among the various committees and relevant stakeholders.

The committee reviewed the overall vision for the next edition, the committee structure, the roles and responsibilities of its members, in addition to the proposed arrangements for the opening ceremony, the executive session, and the panel discussions.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the conference’s technical programme and main tracks, alongside highlights from the previous edition. The committee discussed the mechanism to call for technical paper proposals, the target categories and topics, and how to attract high-quality participation from experts, researchers, and specialists at both regional and international levels.

“The first meeting of the Executive Committee marks a significant starting point towards delivering an exceptional edition of MEOS GEO that responds to the priorities of the energy sector and keeps pace with its rapid developments at both the regional and global levels. We look forward to working with the committee members and our partners to develop a programme that combines strategic vision with technical expertise, providing an effective platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and opportunities for collaboration,” Anas A. Alshuaibi, Chair of MEOS GEO 2027, said.

“Our focus during this early stage lies in developing a comprehensive technical programme that addresses the most prominent issues, challenges, and opportunities of interest to professionals in the energy and geosciences sectors. The call for technical paper proposals will be a key element in these efforts, enabling us to attract the latest research, technologies, and practical experience from around the world to enrich the content of the conference,” Abdulrahman Al-Shuhail, Technical Programme Chair of MEOS GEO 2027, said.

“The convening of the first Executive Committee meeting reflects the continued progress in preparations for MEOS GEO 2027 and embodies the commitment of all partners to build upon the success of previous editions. We will work closely with Saudi Aramco, the SPE, participating professional societies, the Ministry of Oil and Environment, as well as committee members to deliver a world-class event that fosters dialogue, innovation, and knowledge exchange, thereby reinforcing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a leading destination for hosting specialised international events,” Mohammed Ebrahim, General Manager of Informa Bahrain, said.

“As a co-organiser of MEOS GEO 2027, the SPE is committed to working closely with the Executive Committee and our partners to deliver a robust forward-looking technical programme that addresses the evolving needs of the oil, gas, and geoscience sectors. Building on the strong foundations laid by the 2025 edition, we anticipate bringing together professionals, researchers, and technical experts from around the world to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and contribute to developing solutions that will propel the sector forward,” Ms. Michelle Tan, Vice President of Events at SPE, said.

Preparations for the 2027 edition follow the success of MEOS GEO 2025, which attracted over 17,400 visitors and witnessed broad regional and international participation. Visitors from Saudi Arabia comprised more than 60% of the total attendees. The event featured over 120 technical sessions and achieved an exhibitor rebooking rate of 82.6%, reflecting the event’s popularity and value to participants and partners.
