In line with the bank’s strategic commitment to creating a brighter community, BBK, Bahrain’s pioneer in retail and commercial banking, announced the launch of new services to cater to customers with special needs.
The announcement was made at a press conference held on Monday at the BBK Riffa Financial Mall, and attended by BBK’s Chief Executive A.Karim Bucheery, senior employees from the Bank and members of various societies.
The pioneering initiative is a positive milestone for the special needs community in the Kingdom of Bahrain who will now have access to BBK’s dedicated services to ensure that their banking experience is more convenient.
“It is a commitment at BBK to constantly strive to create an ideal banking experience for all our customers, including those with special needs but it is an even higher commitment for us to ensure the wellbeing for all the citizens of the Kingdom and special needs are an integral part of the community,” BBK’s Chief Executive Mr. A.Karim Bucheery, said.
The new services include certified sign language speaking employees who will be available in selected BBK Financial Malls and Branches to serve hearing-impaired customers. In addition, the Bank is waiving a number of fees for customers with special needs, as well as dedicating parking and wheelchair access at all of its Financial Malls. Finally, customers with special needs can rely on special assistance provided during their visit to the Branch.
The first stage of the initiative saw a number of the Bank’s Branch employees undertake certified sign language training in association with the Bahrain Deaf Society. The training was customized to teach them the skills of basic sign language in addition to sign language specifically relating to banking transactions so that they can communicate with hearing impaired customers.
“This initiative is not the start of the Bank’s commitment to the special needs community as BBK enjoys a long standing tradition of the Corporate Social Responsibility. It is though a first step in tailoring BBK banking services to special needs which once again reinforces BBK’s position as a leading responsible corporate citizen,” Bucheery, added.
