Team Bahrain has announced an unchanged line-up in the fourth season of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, as the region’s leading drivers head to the iconic Yas Marina Circuit for Rounds 3 and 4 on 7th December.
After an enthralling shoot-out in Bahrain between six drivers for the chance to compete in the region’s most exciting and professional race series, Team Bahrain have confirmed 2011 winner Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Mohammed Mattar and Faisal Raffii will race in the Abu Dhabi rounds.
All three drivers performed admirably on home territory with Al Khalifa currently lying in third place with 42 points, eight points behind current leader Clemens Schmid. Raffii and Mattar, who made their debuts in the season opener and shared the second Bahraini car, finished seventh and eight respectively.
With the announcement of their participation for the entire fourth season, Team Bahrain will be looking to climb up the Team Title table; they currently lie in third place with 69 points, behind current leaders Al Nabooda Racing 90 points, and Saudi Falcons with 75 points.
After confirming their unchanged line-up, former champion Al Khalifa said he was excited by the potential the team showed in Bahrain.
“Faisal Raffii and Mohammed Mattar produced two outstanding races and it all bodes well for the rest of the season. We have huge potential in the team, with a fantastic team behind us, so I do not see any reason why we cannot challenge for individual and team honours,” he added.
“We are delighted Team Bahrain have committed for the entire season. They will be formidable opponents for the rest of the teams as they have potential and a former championship winner in their ranks,” Walter Lechner, Manager of Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East said.
