His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, who met with Dr. John Chipman Director-General and Chief Executive at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) on Monday, was briefed HRH on new event titled IISS Bahrain Geo-Economic Summit: Africa’s rise.
His Royal Highness once again welcomed the hosting of the Manama Dialogue in Bahrain, which he considers it one of the most important international forums with a focus on regional and international political, economic, and security issues.
His Royal Highness also noted the success of the December 2012 Manama Dialogue, emphasizing that the wide international participation reflects the importance of the event.
His Royal Highness went on to praise the specialised events organized by the IISS and hosted in Bahrain. These events highlight Bahrain’s role in supporting dialogues and forums that allow opinions and views to be exchanged.
His Royal Highness also highlighted the IISS publications that focus on regional and international research.
Dr. Chipman expressed his and the IISS’ thanks to His Royal Highness for his support for the Manama Dialogue, which has contributed to the forum’s annual success, and praised His Royal Highness’ speech at the opening of the Forum last December for its accurate assessment of the regional situation.
In addition to the preparations to the Manama Dialogue 2013, Dr. Chipman also introduced His Royal Highness to the IISS Bahrain Geo-Economic Summit: Africa’s rise, which aims to analyse current economic changes on the continent and understanding their impacts.
