MANAMA: The attack on Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam claimed a life of an expatriate resident and eight others were injured on late Wednesday, Saudi civil aviation authorities announced.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that the victims sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe and were immediately evacuated to local medical facilities for urgent treatment.
The Authority added that specialized technical teams are conducting a comprehensive assessment to survey the physical damage caused to airport infrastructure and passenger facilities.
The latest strike on the Eastern Province’s primary transport hub comes amid heightened regional security tensions and repeated aerial targeted attempts against civilian aviation infrastructure across the Kingdom.
Saudi civil aviation and security agencies affirmed that operational safety procedures remain active across all national airports, with further updates to be released following the completion of site inspections.
